What types of businesses does Mutiara Axis typically work with?
We work with small to mid-sized businesses in Sabah and across Malaysia. Our clients range from trading companies and manufacturers planning export activities to service businesses seeking more clarity around their pricing or brand identity. We are generally a good fit for businesses with an existing operating history rather than those at the very earliest stage.
How long does each engagement take?
Timelines are defined at the outset of each engagement. The Pricing Strategy Review runs over two weeks, the Brand Positioning Advisory over four weeks, and the International Trade Advisory over six weeks. These durations reflect what is needed to do each engagement properly β not stretched beyond what is necessary.
What should I prepare before the first conversation?
Nothing formal is required for an initial discussion. We will ask you some background questions about your business, what you are working on, and what prompted you to consider consulting support. If the conversation progresses to a formal engagement, we will provide a specific list of documents and information we would need at that point.
How are fees structured and when are payments made?
Each service is priced at a fixed project fee (RM 540, RM 1,850, or RM 3,300 depending on the service). We typically request 50% at the start of the engagement and the remaining 50% upon delivery of the final report or deliverable. Payment can be made via bank transfer.
Do you work with businesses outside of Sabah?
Yes. While our physical office is in Kota Kinabalu, we work with clients across Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak as well. Most of our engagements are conducted through a combination of video calls and document exchange, so distance is generally not a limiting factor.
How do I know if my business would benefit from consulting?
The most honest way to answer that is through an initial conversation. Consulting tends to be most useful when a business faces a specific, defined challenge β such as pricing that no longer feels right, a brand that has outgrown its original positioning, or a trade expansion that is running into unfamiliar regulatory questions. If you have a particular concern, we are happy to discuss whether a structured engagement would be appropriate.
